Citation :Purple Jim a dit :
En février 69 aussi. Sur le CD "An Eveneing With The JHE" il y a trois répétitions du group pour les concerts Albert Hall. Pendant "Room Full Of Mirrors" Jimi utilise les mêmes paroles. |
Citation :A more interesting collaboration took place in 1986 when Redding and Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell (with whom Redding has since fallen out) traveled to former manager Chas Chandler's Newcastle home and recorded new tracks to at least four unreleased Hendrix demos. (In this they were pioneers, as this well preceded the Nineties trend of overdubbing incomplete tapes by famous dead people.) Redding could recall none of the titles of these songs aside from "Sunshine of Your Love." "There was a party thing, like a sing-along thing at a wedding, and another tune that had like a sitar in it," he says. |

Yeah".
"
A l'origine, "
Bonne version.
It's Too Bad".
Yeah, Yeah") typique de "Room Full Of Mirrors"...
"
Cat Talkin' To Me. It is a finished backing track of a JHE original. I'm not sure if this is a Noel original or something Jimi wrote. It doesn't sound like one of Noel's songs to me.
In 1988, after the Olympic outtakes were discovered, Chas brought Mitch and Noel in to re-record the original drum and bass parts and inexplicably add new lyrics to some of the unreleased songs. Mitch wrote new lyrics and added a vocal track to Cat Talkin' To Me with predictably awful results.
Some sources list it as a May 1967 recording but going but it doesn't sound anything like recordings from that era. I think the 1/68 date is much more accurate.
Even worse Noel wrote new lyrics and added a vocal track to Little One. A song he had absolutely nothing to do with. That track was Jimi, Mitch and Dave Mason. Why Chas of all people thought this was a good idea is beyond me. It seems everyone thought it was ok to screw with Jimi's tapes. (...)
What is odd is overdubs on some tracks (Cat Talkin', Lover Man, Sunshine, etc) have these incredibly dated 80's drum sounds with tons of reverb but others (Crying Blue Rain, Room Full of Mirrors, Shame Shame Shame) are tasteful. I wouldn't be surprised if the drums and bass on those 3 tracks are Mitch and Noel's original contributions but with lots of reverb added 20 years later.
BTW, those 3 tracks are part of a medley. Chas split them up into 3 seperate tracks but they run together on the raw tape. There is more playing before Crying Blue Rain turns into Room Full of Mirrors on the raw tape.
Michael Fairchild -
Have you heard the new tapes that Chas Chandler has uncovered of the Experience that he's had for all these years? Weren't you going to re-do some of the rhythm with him?Noel Redding - Yeah. We went to Newcastle and overdubbed everything about three years ago. I did nine tracks in a day. Mitchell took two weeks to do one track. There's a bunch of tracks on there that have never been heard, about ten I'd say. They're from the
Are You Experienced? and
Axis period. One track is like a party.
Michael Fairchild -
The "Devil Jam?"Noel Redding - No, that was done in Los Angeles in October, '68. There's a lot of songs that are related to other Hendrix-type songs. I think we do "Sunshine Of Your Love." Chas told me he's got enough unreleased stuff for three albums. But the album is already bogged down with legal stuff, so the tapes are at a stalemate. When they release them it's going to be like multi-platinum in about ten minutes. It's all unreleased stuff, not alternate takes of what's out there.
Titres existants sans les overdubs de Chandler :
- Taking Care Of No Business
- There Ain't Nothin' Wrong With That (aka "Little One")
- Mr Bad Luck (aka "Look Over Yonder")

[voc. Mitch Mitchell, bootleg release]Here I am the master of a vessel in distress
This love affair is turning sour, just one big ugly mess
I’m a cat who’s in your dog house, sure ain’t havin’ fun
Whining, moaning late again, the inquisitions come
I feel a storm arising, time to go below
So batten down the hatches girl, oh no
Losing self control
Hmm pirates of your soul
My treasure chest is close to empty
Running low on gas
The ship you sail is laden
With captains of your past
The rocks are getting closer now
My dear our time has come
That life raft sure looks tempting
Though I’m not about to run
I think I’ll go and talk to that cat
It makes a lot more sense
Are you seeking vengeance
Is bitterness so sweet
Maybe your pain is pleasure
It sure ain’t, not for me
My friends now call you ‘Leg Irons’
They’re wrong your name is ‘Gnaws’
Diploma from ‘Piranha School Of Nagging’
With honours, that’s yours

It’s a shame, shame, shame
That my brother can’t be with me today
Well the last time

Here he comes, baby
Here comes your lover ma-a-an
Hey, here, here he comes
Here comes your lover ma-an

Reach up baby, now
Hand me down my walkin’ ca-a-ane
I think I see your man
I better get the hell out as fast as I can

[Music: BB King’s ‘Rock Me Baby’. Lyrics are a mix of Elmore James’s ‘Look On Yonder Wall’ (Bill ‘Jazz’ Gillum) & Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘Meet Me In The Bottom (Willie Dixon) Jimi related this song to the Vietnam war veterans returning, as the original ‘Look On Yonder Wall’ did to those of World War 2, the missing verse being: "Your husband went to the war, I know it was tough, I don’t know how many men’s he killed, but I know he done killed enough."]
