La qualité audio de l'enregistrement est excellente (a priori soundboard), mais celui soulève quelques questions... on y reviendra.
Ce concert a été filmé, et même partiellement publié officiellement :
"Jimi Plays Monterey"

Après le concert du 25 novembre 1967, l'Experience poursuit sa tournée anglaise et se produit à Manchester, Belfast, Chatham, Brighton, Nottingham, Newcastle et finalement à Glasgow le 5 décembre. Malheureusement, aucun de ces concerts n'a été documenté.

Pendant ce temps, le second album du groupe ("Axis: Bold As Love") est sorti en Angleterre - il ne sera publié aux Etats-Unis que le 10 janvier 1968, afin de ne pas perturber la carrière de la version américaine de "Are You Experience" dans les charts.

Le groupe ne reste pas inactif pour autant : il enregistre quelques titres pour la BBC le 15 décembre (dont deux titres de leur second disque : "Wait Until Tomorrow" et "Spanish Castle Magic") et rentre même en studio quelques jours plus tard pour plancher sur le prochain album (enregistrant "Dream", "Dance", et surtout "Crosstown Traffic").

Pour autant, lorsque l'Experience se produit dans le cadre du "Christmas On Earth Continued", le groupe présente un répertoire qui regarde en arrière, mais il faut rappeler que cette soirée était l'occasion de clôturer 1967 avec panache en compagnie d'autres groupes phares du moment : Eric Burdon & The Animals, The Move, Pink Floyd, Graham Bond Organisation, Soft Machine...

Après un déluge sonore (issu d’un autre titre ?), Jimi lance au public : "Plug your ears! watch out for ears! Watch out for ears! ok?" avant de s'attaquer au "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" des Beatles (autre grande sensation de 1967 !) dont l'Experience livre une version impeccable. L'enregistrement soulève toutefois pas mal de questions : il est manifeste que la voix de Jimi est doublée... et que ce n'est pas par Noel Redding, mais par Hendrix lui-même, même si sa voix semble légèrement modifiée, comme si elle était légèrement accélérée. Dès lors, notre source ne peut pas être tout à fait considérée comme Live... et pose deux questions :
- Quand Jimi a-t'il enregistré ces overdubs ?
- Dans quel but ?

Sur "Foxy Lady", la voix de Jimi est là encore doublée, alors que comme sur "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", Jimi chante toujours les couplets seuls. Non seulement le film montre que ce n'est pas Noel Redding qui chante, mais il nous montre aussi (à partir de 2:57 sur "Foxy Lady") que Jimi lui-même ne chante pas à des moments où on l'entend chanter !
Pour le reste, il faut souligner la qualité de la version, qui comprend un solo central très proche de celui de la version studio, et un final joué avec les dents.

Jimi se lance alors dans un petit discours où il parle de noël (pas de Noel !), de la guerre du Vietnam, de son nouvel album... tout en se réaccordant. Jimi joue ensuite l'introduction de "Wild Thing" - d'une façon radicalement différente de la manière dont il l'a jouée à Monterey (qui se rapproche des introductions de "Purple Haze" cuvée 1967). Il profite des ressources de la saturation pour jouer des traits complètement inédits avec son vibrato... et réussit l'exploit de ne pas être plus désaccordé que ça lorsqu'il attaque le riff de sa reprise des Troggs. L'enregistrement contient malheureusement pas mal de cuts (on devine un solo partant sur le thème de "Stranger In The Night")... Dommage : ce qu'on entend de la version est excellent.

Au final ? Il serait intéressant d'en savoir plus sur cette courte performance, dont il n'est pas à exclure qu'il existe des titres supplémentaire.

Moi aussi j'ai quasiment tout le temps des problèmes d'affichage des photos sur le forum, le temps de chargement des pages est infini. Ce qui fait que j'abandonne très souvent.

C'est pareil pour tout le monde... mais soyez un peu patient et ouvrez plusieurs pages en même temps (ce qui limite les temps d'attente). C'est aussi long pour moi, voire plus long, de vérifier qu'il n'y ait pas de doublon, effacer, vérifier, etc...

En gros ce gars détiendrait plusieurs heures de Jimi sur scène et qu'elle serait peut-être pedue???

et à part Chrismas on Earth Continued, on ne sait pas à quoi ressemble le reste??? Existerait-il une liste des dates filmés????  

Ca dit que c'est 12 heures de Jimi à "Christmas On Earth", ce qui semble bizarre. Si le groupe avait joué pendant une heure avec 5 caméras sur lui, ça ne serait que 5 heures de film. Le reste était surement les autres groupes et images backstage, répétitions et autres. Perdu, ou dans un placard quelque part ?
