Everlasting First sounds less processed than the LP version, which is a good thing. I think Arthur probably re-did his vocal for the LP. You can hear his voice crack on this take. This one seems to last a few seconds longer and doesn't have the tape fx at the beginning either.

The two takes of Ezy Rider are tantalizing but too short. Jimi speaks and sings and it's very well recorded. Wish there was a lot more! Arthur was pissed that they didn't finish this take. He always blamed it on Jimi being too high, but Jimi sounds fine to me. I wonder if he was just reluctant to give a new song away to Arthur?

The long Jam has a few nice moments but isn't exactly ground-breaking. Sounds like three guitars, Jimi, Arthur and Frank Fayad or George Suranovich? With Jimi carrying most of the load while the others noodle. Actually to my ears the best thing about the Jam besides Jimi himself is Remi Kabaka's percusssion. Remi was/is a pro and I would have liked to hear even more of him in the mix.

Overall it's great that these tracks are finally free . . . or will be soon.

"Everlasting First" : Il manque les 40 premières secondes de l'intro officiel. Pour mémoire le titre officiel commence par un solo, dont on a ici que la fin en guise d'intro.
Ce premier (et excellent) solo (je parle de l'officiel) ressemble d'ailleurs pas mal au second solo à la fin du titre. Je pensais un moment que c'était le même, ré-utilisé pour l'intro mais il y a de nettes différences finalement. Jimi a dû jouer ce solo plusieurs fois et Arthur Lee s'est servi d'une version pour bidouiller une intro à son titre. On aurait pu ainsi espérer pour ce Blue Thumb Records acetate une version avec des soli différents ! Il n'est est rien : on a ici le même premier solo avec 40' de moins et le même deuxième solo à la fin (avec peut-être quelques secondes inédites tout à la fin du titre ) !


"Ezy Ryder" take 1 et 2 : Sympas mais brefs. On ne s'en relèvera pas la nuit !


Jam "Loon" : Chouette une nouvelle jam ! Bien cool, sans être extraordinaire.
A certains moments j'ai l'impression d'entendre l'ABB, comme sur ce passage de 3.50 à 4.40 ! Remarque, ça c'est plutôt extraordinaire non ?
