Jimi By Himself - The Home Recordings (1995)

Jimi By Himself - The Home Recordings (1995) R-1906099-1424110968-9386.jpeg

1. 1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)
2. Angel
3. Cherokee Jam
4. Hear My Train A'Comin'
5. Voodoo Chile/Cherokee Mist
6. Gypsy Eyes

1983...(A MERMAN I SHOULD TURN TO BE)

Doo-doo-doo-di-doo
Oo-oo-oo-ooh

Hooray I awake from yesterday
Alive but the war is hear to stay
So my love Catherina and me
Decide to take our last walk
Through the noise to the sea
Not to die but to be reborn
Away from lands so battered and to-orn

For ever-r
Oh say can you see it’s really such a mess
Every inch of Earth is a fighting nest
Giant pencil and lipstick tube shaped things
Continue to rain and cause screamin’ pain
And the Arctic stains from silver blue to bloody red
As our feet find the sand and the sea straight ahead
Straight ahea-ea-ead

It’s too ba-a-ad, that our frie-ends
Can’t be with us toda-a-ay
The machi-i-ine that we bui-ilt
Would never save us, they would sa-a-ay
“It’s impossibl-le for a man to live and breathe under water, forever”
They complai-ai-ained
“An’ anyway-ay it would be beyond the will of God and the grace of the Ki-ing”

So my darlin’ make love on the sand
To salute the last moment ever on dry land
Our machine it has done it’s work, played it’s part well
Without a scratch on our body and we bid it farewell
Starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile
Before our heads go under we take a last look at the killing noise
Of the out of sty-y-yle

MOON, TURN THE TIDES…GENTLY, GENTLY AWAY

So down and down and down
And down and down and down we go-o-o
Hurry, my darling, we must not be late for the show
Neptune Champion Games to an aqua world is so dear
“Right this way,” says a mermaid, I can hear Atlantis full of chee-ee-eer

Oo-oo-doo-doo-doo-oo-doo-doo-oo-oo-oo-ooh
Oo-oo-oo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo [etc…]

ANGEL

Angel come down from heaven yesterday
She stayed with me just long enough for afternoon te-e-ea
And she tell me a story yesterday
About the sweet love between The Moon and the dee-eep blue sea-ea-ea
And when it was time for her to go she spread her wings high over me-e-e
And she sai-aid I shall return tomorro-ow

And I said fly on my sweet angel
Fly on throu-ou-ough the sky-y-y-y
Fly on my sweet, sweet ange-e-el
Tomorrow I’ll look for you by my si-i-ide

And sure enough this mornin’ comes to me
With silver wings silhouette against the glow of the child’s sunri-i-ise
And as the bluebirds and the sparro-ows envy me
She says I love you little boy and today you shall fly-y-y

She kissed me once and the feeling so good she ma-ade me cry-y-y
And now we can fly together-r-r
And I said fly-y-y on my sweet ange-el
Fly on throu-ough the sky-y-y
Fly o-on my sweet ange-el
Together we shall always be hi-igh

Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooh

HEAR MY TRAIN A COMIN’

Well, I-I wait around a train station
Waitin’ for that trai-ai-ain
To take me-e-e, take me awa-ay
From this lonesome tow-own
Whole lot o’ people put me through a lot of changes
And my girl then me do-own

VOODOO CHILE

The night I was bo-o-orn, Lord, The Moon turned a fi-i-ire red
Well…

Mm-mm-mm-hm-hm…[etc…(John Lee Hooker style)]

The night I was bo-orn, Lord, The Moon turned a fire bla-ack
Said the night I was bo-orn, Lord, The Moon turned a fire red
My poor mother cried “The Gypsy was right”
And she fell dow-own, right down dea-ead

Oo-oo-oo-ooh, mm-mm-mm-hm-hm…[etc…]

She took me past the outskirts of infinity

[Guitar solo]

Well I, I make love to you little gi-irl
When you’re sleeping and you felt no pai-ain
I remember lockin’ in your dream middle the night
And I seen you smile tear stai-ai-ained
And now I’m a million miles dimensioned away from you
And I’m-uh, in your picture fra-a-ame, picture fra-ame, in your picture fra-a-ame

My arrows are made of desires
From far away as Jupiter’s sulphur mi-ines
My arro-ows are made of desire
Far away as Jupiter sulphur mi-ine
Down by the methane sea-ea
My room is made of mirrors
I seen you, but-uh, Lord knows, I can’t see me-e-e

Mm-mm-mm-hm-hm…[etc…]
Yeah, yeah.. [etc.]
Yeah
Doo-doo..[etc.]
Aa-aa-aa.. [etc.]

I float in liquid gardens, in Arizona’s new red sa-a-and
I float in liquid gardens, down in Arizon’sss red sand
I taste the honey from a flower named Blue
And-uh New York drowns while we held ha-a-and

GYPSY EYES [Different song take 1]

For you my love I’d give anything
Even diamond ring
Touched me where I asked for payment
I ain’t getting anything
I ain’t getting anything

Here the sun comes red glow
Gypsy eyes follow me y’all
What can I do
Well cannot go-o home
I ain’t got a soul
Ain’t got a soul

Gypsy eye-es
Gypsy eye-es
Gypsy eye-es
Gypsy yeah, yeah, yeah, yea-ea-eah

Ain’t got time
Ain’t got ti-ime, yeah
Help me out Lord, I ain’t got ti-ime

You got me up
Cryin’ upsi-ide down
You got me so blue
You got me-e so
You got me so, they are again
You don’t want Gypsy

Gypsy eye-es
Gypsy eye-es
Gypsy eye-e-es
Gyp…

Mmm-mm-mm-hmm- yeah...[etc.]

GYPSY EYES [Different song take 2]

Mmm-mm-mm-hmm-...[etc.]

Too, too, too…[etc.]

Bonus :

LONG HOT SUMMER NIGHT [take 1]

Long, long hot summer ni-ights
As far as my eyes could see-ee
Everybody home in a cold winter storm
Oh my darling, where can you be-e-e-e

LONG HOT SUMMER NIGHT [take 2]

Long, long hot summer ni-ights
As far as my eyes could see-ee
Well, my heart was co-old as a winter storm-orm
Oh my darling, where can you be-e-e

Second verse

Three sugar walls and two candy cane windo-ows
Sylvia’s mood melted, all those in si-ight
Everyone’s on fire but I’m snowin’ way down in a cold blizzard

Where are you on this-uh hot cold summer
Where are you on this-uh hot cold
Where are you on this hot cold summer ni-i-i-ight

Mmm how you doin’
I start to stutter can’t you tell I’m doin’ fi-ine
It was my baby talkin’, she’s way down ‘cross the border
I say, “I’m gonna hurry to youan’ and I’ve been a fool and I’m tired of cry-y-in’…

Oh, I forgot the song
